Iggy’s remains arrive from London

MANILA  – The remains of the late Congressman Ignacio “Iggy” Arroyo finally arrived in Manila Wednesday night, more than a month after his death in London.

The remains of Arroyo arrived via Emirates Airlines flight EK 334 before 10 p.m.

Arroyo’s partner Grace Ibuna is expected to retrieve the remains of the late congressman.

Contrary to tradition, no “planeside honors” were held for Arroyo.

According to Ninoy Aquino International Airport media affairs head Connie Bungag, only 10 access passes were given to the Arroyo family, who wished for a simple affair.

Atty. Lorna Kapunan, lawyer of Arroyo’s legal wife Aleli, said Aleli’s camp was not at the airport to welcome the remains because it was not part of the settlement.

Arroyo’s remains will be brought to Arlington Funeral Homes in Quezon City before proceeding to a 2-day wake at the Arroyo ancestral home in La Vista, Quezon City.

There will be another wake at Aleli’s home in La Vista from Saturday to Monday before proceeding to the House of Representatives for a necrological service Monday morning before flying to Bacolod.

By Thursday, Arroyo’s remains will be brought back to the ancestral home.

Arroyo will be buried at the North Cemetery next to his mother.
