Mild quake hits 4 cities in Metro Manila

MANILA – A mild earthquake struck four cities in Metro Manila on Wednesday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

Phivolcs reported that the quake struck at 10:07 a.m., 31 kilometers northeast of DoÑa Remedios Trinidad in Bulacan province.

Phivolcs Director Renato Solidum said that the quake was tectonic in origin and that the quake was caused by the movement of a local fault.

The quake was felt at Intensity 3 in the cities of Quezon, Pasig, Makati, and Taguig.

Solidum said that the quake struck near the Sierra Madre.

Phivolcs said that it expects no damages from the quake. It also said that the quake will not have aftershocks.
